Audits centrales post-exploitation

Preparing post-shutdown management of fossil-fired plants sites

Since the early 2000s, EDF has been progressively phasing out its fleet of fossil-fired power plants, which were built post-Word War II and have reached their maximum operating age. This trend has been reinforced by national climate policies and the utility's net-zero roadmap.

In 2006, EDF established a 'Post-Exploitation Centre' tasked with formulating strategies for the sites post shutdown. The centre's objectives included ensuring preparation for post-operational scenarios (conversion, site recovery, return to greenfield), maintaining regulatory compliance, archive management, and preserving the site's historical value for the benefit of industrial historians. LGI has been tasked with audits and recommendations.

OUR ROLE

  • Creating action plans for post-operation phase preparation at each site
  • Conducted a series of audits at all power plants being closed, beginning with a pilot site
  • Coordinated the project with operators across all sites
  • Strategic recommendations
